Letter to Oliver - Age One

Letter to Oliver- Age One

Dear Oliver,

You have brought so much excitement and love into our lives and we are so grateful that we have you as our little boy.

Some things we hope we’ll always remember about you at Age One:

You are a very happy little boy who’s developing a wonderful sense of humor – you laugh and smile all of the time. Sometimes you laugh so hard your eyes shut tight with excitement. Sometimes I’ll be walking down the street carrying you and I’ll look and see that you’re just smiling at the person walking behind us. You’re so friendly.

You love to be read to, your favorite stories are Yummy Yucky, Quiet Loud, Mommy Calls Me Monkey Pants, Where’s Baby’s Pumpkin and Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You See? Whenever you are sad, we can read you a book and you calm down. You love to turn the page on the books when we read them.

You Love balls, wheels, Tupperware and opening and closing doors. One of your current favorite things to do is walk around with the Tupperware in your mouth so that the colored plastic covers your eyes and see the world in a shade of blue, red or whatever color the Tupperware cover is. You’ll laugh hysterically because we’re laughing too.

When you first learn how to do something, you won’t stop doing it until you’ve got it mastered. The stairs are your latest conquest. Walking behind a walker wagon seems to be your next surmountable challenge.

Sometimes you just like to be held.

Whenever your dad walks into a room, you smile.

Your favorite foods right now are cherry tomatoes, grapes, blueberries and mac and cheese.

You have blankets that need to be available at all times, whenever you hold them, you automatically start sucking your thumb. Your dad’s renamed them “Harley’s” because he thinks you’re too cool for “lovey’s”

You have lots of friends and though you don’t necessarily play together when you play side by side you are always checking to make sure they’re seeing what you are and they’re having fun too.

Happy First Birthday, Oliver! May this only be the first of many, many wonderful years!
